ABSTRACT
Education, including vocational education, has an important role in the development of the whole man and the development of Indonesian society. One of the strategic efforts in developing competitiveness in the Asian Economic Community (AEC) is a strategic efforts in optimizing the vocational technology education at various levels. Technology education and vocational education sector as one of the reliable suppliers of labor. In particular, vocational technology education program geared to produce graduates who have mastered the ability in certain areas of work that can be directly absorbed as workers in industry / private, government agency or self-employed independently. Vocational education will be able to run optimally if the stakeholders (public, government, industry / business) work together in realizing education that prepares ready workforce. Formation of AEC aims to improve the welfare of all members of ASEAN so as to face competition on a regional and global scope. This is a highly significant advance in response to the care of human security that include economic security, food security, health security, environmental security, personal security, community security and political security. Indonesia is currently in the phase of economic growth. In order to support sustainable economic growth, it is necessary for the strengthening of the quality of human resources who are able to meet these challenges. Then vocational education must have a maximum role in generating employment ready and able to compete in the face of the AEC.
