EFFECT OF LOCAL AMELIORANT AND WATERING INTERVAL ON SWORD BEAN GROWTH AND RESULT

ABSTRACT
Study dealing with the use of local ameliorant in combination with the interval of watering on the growth and quality of sword bean (Canavalia ensiformis L.) in sandy beach area was conducted from May until September 2014 in Depaok Beach Parangtritis, Bantul Yogyakarta. The experiment was arranged in Split Plot Desidn with three replications. The main plot was watering interval consisting of two levels: watering every day and watering every two days. The sub plot was the combination between the kind of organic matter and the clay doses application. The kindof organic matter consisting of four levels: chicken manure, goat manure, cow manure, and green leaves of gliriside. The clay doses consisting of two levels: clay dosage 10 tons ha-1 and clay dosage 20 tons ha-1. Results of the experiment indicate that the watering every day in combination with the application of green leaves of gliriside resultes plant height, leaves number, root nonules better than the other applications. The application of green leavesof gliriside in combination with the clay dosage 20 tons ha-1. Results pod number and the weight of 100seeds higher than the other application. He application of manure can create better soil structure of coastal sandy land.
